1. Dropping Hips & Poor Body Line

Usually caused by:

  • Lifting the head to breathe

  • Knee-driven kicking

  • Lack of trunk-led rotation

When hips drop, drag increases.
When drag increases, effort increases.

We correct the balance first.

2. Breathing That Disrupts Stroke Shape

We coach:

  • Rotation to breathe (not lift)

  • One goggle in, one goggle out

  • Quick, low-profile breaths

Better breathing = higher hips + calmer stroke.

3. Inefficient Kick Mechanics

Common errors:

  • Excess knee bend

  • Cycling motion instead of hip-driven flutter

  • Large, slow kicks

4. Catch That Slip Instead of Grip

Typical issues:

  • Overreaching

  • Fingers angled upwards

  • Dropped elbow

We use:

  • Sculling progressions

  • Doggypaddle front-end work

  • Early vertical forearm education

The goal: hold water, don’t slip through it.
