TCC ENDURANCE · SELF-PACED SWIM COURSE
CSS Reset & Pace Builder
Understand your swim pace. Test consistently. Put the result to work.
If you can swim continuous front crawl but are unsure what your CSS result means, this course gives you a practical way to use it. Work through four short lessons, collect reliable test times and follow four adaptable swims across two weeks.
Allow around 35–45 minutes for the guided online learning, plus a separate test visit and four training swims. No videos to watch, live classes to attend or work to submit.
Make the number useful
You will learn what CSS estimates, how it differs from a laboratory threshold measurement and why it is not a guaranteed race pace. You will prepare a 400 m/200 m test, use TCC's existing calculator and translate the result into appropriate repetition targets.
By the end, you will have your own testing record, practical pace notes and a way to review how your training actually feels. The emphasis is on making sensible decisions, including when to slow a set down or question the test.
Who it is for
Beginner and intermediate triathletes who already swim continuous front crawl and want a clearer approach to structured pool training. You will need access to a suitable lifeguarded pool, a timing method and enough confidence for a continuous 400 m before attempting the test. A helper for timing is useful.
If continuous front crawl is still a struggle, develop that first. You can read the course and use the example without attempting maximal testing. This is general education and independent training guidance; individual medical advice and personal coaching are outside the course.

Take it to the pool
The downloads include a testing protocol and results sheet, preparation checklist, personal pace worksheet, four-session swim plan and reflection sheet. The plan has shorter alternatives and clear guidance on pace, rest and adjustments.
The programme is designed to help you practise pacing and interpret your response. It does not promise a particular improvement in two weeks.
The calculator stays free
Use the free TCC CSS calculator whenever you need it. You do not need to buy this course to calculate CSS. The paid course adds explanation, test preparation, interpretation, applied activities and a practical training programme.
Learn independently
The course costs £19 as a one-off purchase. Access is through your customer account, with ongoing access to the lessons and downloads while TCC hosts the course. There are no scheduled teaching sessions, marked assignments or included personal coaching. The course is separate from TCC coaching subscriptions.
